Showcases
Once a year, the studio produces showcases in a performing venue with live musicians and back-up singers. Students support each other during rehearsal and performance in developing their art. The atmosphere is one of “going for it” and it is infectious, as each singer experiences the rewards of risk-taking and sharing deeply.
The Studio’s own performing group “Voice and Soul” does community outreach performances though Bread & Roses, an organization that was founded 30 years ago in the San Francisco Bay Area by Mimi Farina.
The Bread & Roses mission is to uplift the human spirit by providing free, live, high-quality entertainment to those who are institutionalized or isolated. Through Bread & Roses we have performed at homeless shelters, hospitals and drug rehab centers. Our work touches the hearts of all who become involved in it, performers as well as listeners.
Volunteering with Bread & Roses is a great opportunity to share your talent with a live audience. You can hone your skills, polish your material, and grow as a performer. When you sing for a Bread & Roses audience, you have a moving and rewarding life experience, one that no performer should pass up.
